Do you have a plank that looks like this one?  Or have you narrowly missed ramming your boat into the bow stop and winch stand on your trailer while loading it? We can build you a "goalpost" style bow stop to match your trailer for around $600.  That is much less expensive than replacing a plank, and trying to match stain and varnish it, blending the varnish in and wet sanding and buffing and.....need I go on?  You may want to consider this as a "ounce of prevention" which we all know is worth a pound of cure!

Get Ready for Spring!

Spring is just around the corner and for boaters its time to bring your boat out of storage and back to the water. Now is the time to look over your boat for problems that could affect your boating enjoyment. A few key area to look at are the Fluid Levels, Fuel System, Electrical System, Belts, Hoses, Propellers, Hull and Safety Gear.

Check Engine Oil, Power Trim, and Coolant Levels. Change the oil and oil filter if you did not prior to storage.
Inspect your fuel lines for leaks and look for softness, brittleness or cracking. Replace where necessary.
Inspect all Electrical Connections for corrosion and to be sure that they are snug. Charge the battery and test it to see if it holds the charge. Replace as needed.
Check the Belts and Hoses for cracks and brittleness. Belts should fit tightly on the pulleys and tighten if needed.
A damaged prop can cause vibration and damage to your drive train. Look for pitting, dings or any kind of distortion and replace if any problems are found. If your boat has the solid bronze prop (like most of the classic wooden boats have) we can usually repair it for you.
Clean the hull and decks and inspect.
Look through your life jackets to make sure they are all in good condition.and you have enough onboard for everyone that rides in the boat. Inspect your fire extinguishers to be sure they are fully charged, are the correct class and stored in the proper location.

Is the economy really improving?  You be the judge!
Here are some tips to improving your own economy!
We are seeing some trends in our sales that lead us to believe that the economy just might be improving:
  • People are starting projects they had put off for a year or more
  • Building MEMORIES experiences are selling like "Hotcakes"
  • People are inquiring about and purchasing more supplies for do-it-yourself boat projects

So what are some methods of stretching the old dollar and being prepared for next season when it comes to boating with our families? What are some ways to feel richer at Christmas time in tough times?

Christmas Idea #1
  • Extend the quality time you spend with your family
  • Build a MEMORY in January of 2012. Spend time with your family building their own Heirloom. For about 1/2 the cost of taking a family of four to Disney World where you can  make lots of memories and get a few pictures with Mickey and Minnie Mouse you can have quality time with your family, memories, pictures, AND a Heirloom. A working children sized (225 lb capacity ) electric runabout.
  • Purchase your whole family a gift at once!
  • Get those grandkids over at least once per month as you continue to customize your family's "Memory".

Click here to learn more about this program! - The next build is scheduled for Jan 13,14,15, and is already 1/2 full!

These are just a few of the families enjoying a build and the results of personalizing their boats!  Click here for more examples!
Christmas Idea #2

Tools for the Woodworker!
Combine our Christmas wish lists with our tool wish list!
get those:
  • WorkSharp 3000 Tool sharpeners
  • Tools
  • Frearson screwdriver bits
  • unscrewems
  • Grabits
  • Low angle block planes

No this isn't a Phillips bit... this is a R&P or Frearson bit.Chris Craft didn't use Phillips head fasteners!  Are you getting frustrated by spin out of your bit in the heads of your silicon bronze fasteners?
Once a head on a fastener is spun out it is tough to get the fastener out. These Grabits change that . One end drills a cylindrical hole in the fastener and the other is a form of easy out. Both work in your drill while it is in reverse.
One other method of removing troublesome screws is to core around the fastener. These Un-screw-ems go in your drill and do just that when the drill is in reverse. Unscrewing the fastener! Available in many sizes!
