Century purchased the Cruise Along Boat Co of Solomons, Maryland around 1962 to enter the big boat market. It was an old brand with an old shipyard.
Needed lots of updating. The Century owner, Mr. Hewitt poured a bunch of money into it, culminating in his dream boat the 45' Motor Yacht.
The El Dorado 33 was made in 1963 and 1964.
By 1966, Century pulled the plug on Solomon's boat yard.
One famous one was the black hull 1963 Clipper 26 as he did a bunch of marketing trying to sell it.
